What Does A Painful Mass On Chest Of A Teenager Indicate?
Part of puberty - Dont worry
Detailed Answer:
Hi...you need not be concerned about this. This is part of pubertal development in this aged boys. The swelling automatically settles and will absolve by itself. I will let you know the danger signs or red flags when you need to consult your paediatrician -
1. High grade fever
2. Redness and tenderness at the area.
3. Sudden increase in size and accumulation of pus under the skin or at the area.
4. Any liquid oozing from the region or nipple.
If none of the above symptoms are present...you need not worry. If it is possible can you ask him to take a photo and upload it, so that I can see and decide it the swelling too abnormal.
To be XXXXXXX with you and to take off your stress in the matter, even I too went through the same issue at that age. This pain and swelling may persist for 4-6 weeks. It will settle by itself in due course. Do not worry.
