What Does A Pink Patch On Inner Foreskin Indicate?
Question: I had noticed a pink patch on my inner foreskin about three weeks back, which has been growing since then. I consulted a doctor around two weeks back and he said that he cannot be sure about the problem and asked me to just let it be and monitor if it increases. Now, after three weeks I have noticed that the pink patch has increased in size and I can also notice a pink patch on my penis head which is otherwise brownish in color. Please help. If required, I can send a photograph.
Brief Answer:
Candidal balanoposthitis.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
I read history and saw the photo.
I think that the lesion may be candidal balanoposthitis(CBP).
DM,HIV and any other immunocompromised condition should be ruled out.
I advise antifungal tablets to take for few weeks. You may take ketoconazole or itraconazole.
I also recommend antifungal cream like clotrimazole to apply twice day.
And keep the area dry.
Take Sitz bath in dettol containing water in tub..
Do not worry, you may become alright in few weeks.
I hope my answer might help you. Still any query, you are welcome.
Thanks.

Thanks for the reply Doctor. Before I start with the medication, I had few queries which I wanted to discuss with you:
1) Duration and dosage of the medicine (Ketoconazole)
2) Can this by any chance be a sign of Vitiligo, as told by the Doctor whom I visited. (However, no such patch is visible on my body elsewhere)
3) Any food items which I should avoid during the course of medication.
4) I am under thyroid medication (Eltroxin - 125mcg). Hope it has no issues with the medicine prescribed.
5) Are there any precautions which my wife should take ?
-Thanks and Regards

Brief Answer:
Candidal balanoposthitis
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
Thanks for your satisfaction.
You take one tab ketoconazole daily in morn for about two to three weeks. Or
Cap itraconazole one in morning for two to three weeks. This is how I prescribe my patients. Since they are prescription based drug I sincerely recommend to take my opinion to your precribing doctor.
You avoid sexual intercourse till you feel cured. Then for few weeks condom may be used. As prophylaxis, tab fluconazole 150 mg twice week for two weeks may be given to your wife.
There is no food restriction.
It is not vitiligo. If you develop depigmented patch anywhere ,you may contact me through HCM.
I hope, the answer would be helpful to you.
Best wishes.
Thanks.
