What Does A Positive Pregnancy Test Result Before Period Due Date Indicate?

Question: Hello. My period is due this week but I suspected pregnancy so I took home pregnancy tests at home 4 days ago… Two of them were positive and one was negative. I then took a blood test that showed positive on the following day. I have abdominal swelling as well. However, I think I am probably too early the results to be true, since my period is due this week and I took tests 3/4 days before that. Am I pregnant?
Brief Answer:
Yes you are pregnant
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for the question.
If you had a blood test that was positive, then you are pregnant. Don't be confused by the one urine test that was negative as this is almost certainly a false negative result. If they did a quantitative blood test the number itself might give some indication as to how far along you are. Please let me know if I can help further.

I am confused because of the timing of the blood test, and also because I had used an emergency contraceptive some 60 hours after intercourse… Is it sure this is not a false positive, an ectopic pregnancy or a chemical pregnancy?
Brief Answer:
If the blood test was positive, then you are pregnant.
Detailed Answer:
In any pregnancy, the possibilities will always include:
1. A normal pregnancy
2. A miscarriage
3. An ectopic
Ectopics are a concern when there is irregular spotting and pain on one side or the other. If this is the case with you, then you need to be seen ASAP to have a repeat blood test and an ultrasound. This is quite easy to sort out.
Otherwise, as I stated, the blood HCG level can indicate how far along you are. You need to find out if they sent a 'quantitative HCG' level and ask if they can explain what that result means.
