What Does A Red Pimple Sized Spot On The Buttock Crack Indicate?

default
Posted on Tue, 1 Apr 2014
Question: Hi, I am a 26 y.o. male, and have a complete spinal cord injury, meaning no sensation. I have a red, pimple sized spot on my butt crack, just barely off to one side. It is flat and not raised like a pimple is. I'm wondering what it could be? Should I keep my weight off of it?

Brief Answer: Please find detailed answer below Detailed Answer: Hi XXXX Thanks for writing in. I have read your query in detail. It is important to know the size and duration from which you have the spot. It will also be good if you are able to make out any skin changes around the spot. As you have no sensation, possibility of a sore or fungal infection is important to exclude. Since the area is difficult to visualize properly, I suggest that you consult a doctor and take any ointment if necessary. Also please keep the area clean and dry. Do not scratch the skin over the place and avoid sweat formation. If it is a sore then putting the weight off it might help. If you desire, please send a picture of the spot as we can discuss further. Hope your query is answered. Do write back if you have any doubts. Regards, Dr.Vivek
