What Does A Red Rash In The Groin Area Indicate?

Question: My wife has a day old bright red rash about 2 square inches in her right groin area. It's in the fold between her leg and pelvic area. It is painful and appears to have several white pus blisters. she hasn't been in contact with any new potential allergens that we know of.
Brief Answer:
Could be a bacterial infection.
Detailed Answer:
Hello, this seems like a bacterial infection like Erysipelas.
Is there any fever?
You should see your GP or a Dermatologist who can examine you.
Without examining you it is difficult to say what it could be.
You would require antibiotics for 5 to 7 days and probably some antibiotic ointments for the lesion and you should be fine.
I usually advice my patients Tab Augmentin and Tab Tinidazole along with Mupirocin ointment for bacterial skin rashes.
But it is preferable to see a Doctor before starting medicines.
And please keep the area clean and dry at all times.

Thank you, Doctor. We have some Mupirocin and will try that. Thanks for the quick response.
Brief Answer:
That would be fine and also a consultation with a Doctor.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
You should definitely apply that but also see a Physician or Surgeon as if it is a bacterial infection like Streptococcus or Staphylococcus then it would be better to start antibiotics. Your Doctor might want to take samples for culture from the secretions from the lesion/ rash discharge.
