What Does A Red Spot On Knee After An Injury Indicate?
Question: I hit my knee on a coffe table and a kinda bean shaped red spot appeared at first i though it was like a goose egg bump you get if you hit your head but it looks like blood underneath my skin so should i be worried about it?
Brief Answer:
No worry if skin is intact and as explained.
Detailed Answer:
HI.
Thanks for your query.
This is a hematoma under the skin due to rupture of small blood vessels under the skin , as it can occur anywhere in the body. It is a bit different at the head as the skin to bone structure are different in the scalp (skin covering the skull). So the bleeding at the scalp appears as a goose egg bump.
Do not be be worried if you have:
No skin cut
Movements of the knee joint are normal
If the swelling is not enlarging
If the pain is not increasing
If you can move around without much pain.
I hope this answers your query. \Feel free to ask for more if you need to.
