What Does A Single Live Intrauterine Gestation Corresponding To 13 Weeks At 12 Weeks Of Pregnancy Mean?
Question: My wife is pregnent...Lmp-30-4-2018...GA/lmp-12weeks 3days but single live intraturine Gestation corresponding to 13 weeks 1 day...Why???

Hello,
The ultrasound report says that the fetal parameters correspond to 13 weeks 1 days +/- 3 to 5 days. If we subtract 5 days from this we will get 12 weeks 3 days which is the actual gestational age. This minor difference of 3-5 days is seen due to errors in machine, measurement and calculation and the parameters depend on the growth of the baby in the uterus- which can vary. It can be more than the gestational age if the baby is growing well and can be less than gestational age in case the baby is growing less. Ultrasound scan helps us to monitor the growth baby is having in a given period of time by comparing the different reports every month.
