What Does A Skin Infection Near The Armpit Indicate?

Posted on Mon, 9 Oct 2017
Question: My 15 year old has what looks like a possible skin infection near her armpit. It's about a half of an inch across. I was wondering if you could tell me what it is, and what she should use on it. Right now she has neosporin on it (that's why it's shiny in the picture).

It doesn't itch, but it burned a bit when i had her put antifungal cream on it (i thought it was ringworm at first). It has been there about 4 days .

Brief Answer:
Insect bite reaction or irritant reaction, cortisone cream & neosporin oint

Detailed Answer:
It looks more like an insect bite reaction or irritant reaction. It is not looking like a ringworm infection.
I would recommend you to apply a combination of topical steroid and antibiotic like cortisone cream and neosporin ointment on the affected area twice daily for 5-7 days.
This should subside it.
