What Does A Small Bump Under Lips Indicate?
Question: I see a small bump under my lips. Could you please tell what it is ?
Brief Answer:
This looks like a Folliculitis lesion
Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcare magic
I have gone through your query and I have also reviewed the Image. In the Image I can see a single red bump with a pus head at the angle of mouth.
This looks like a folliculitis. It is a superficial bacterial infection of the hair follicle.
I suggest you to use an OTC topical antibacterial e.g. 2% Mupirocin Ointment twice daily for a week.
Regards

I am here in US and I have never seen an HSV infection. Some how I have this fear in my mind that I might get that. I am not sexually active, and when I read the online articles most of the Americans have it and it is contagious and spread from touching, using the utensils (may be a spoon or fork in a restaurant) or shake hands or even touching materials touched by some one with the virus.
I am trying to understand or get confident about how can I remove the fear or anxiety about it? The only best way I guess is to learn more about it and understand it fully. Also I don't want to get it or spread it to my family as well. So I want to make sure how to be cautious, and how to make sure my kid won't get it or my partner wont get it.

Brief Answer:
Hsv is not transmitted through inanimate objects Or a hand shake
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
You are right, the only way to clear your doubts is to know more about this condition and that's what I am here for i.e to help you clear all your doubts.
Transmission of Hsv via a hand shake Or shared cups/glasses and routes like sharing bed linen, clothing, towels, toilet seats, eating utensils, is less likely.
The majority of herpes cases are spread through intimate (though not always sexual) contact.
The more common route of acquisition of Oro-labial herpes is kissing, or direct skin-to-skin contact during oral sex with someone who has an active infection.
