What Does A Small Dark Spot On Temple Indicate?
Question: A few years ago I developed a small, dark spot by my temple. It looks a little bit like someone poked the skin with a lead pencil. There's a light gray spot surrounding it. It hasn't grown at all--should I be concerned? I would like to know exactly what this spot is and whether it is dangerous or not.
Brief Answer:
You have nothing to worry about.
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
I had gone through your query and understand your concern.
I have seen carefully your picture of the spot and in my opinion it is just a blackhead.
It is called Comedo.
A comedo is a clogged hair follicle (pore) in the skin and it is formed by the debris blocking the sebaceous duct and hair follicle. The oxidation makes it look black.
It is nothing serious and you have nothing to worry about.
Hope it was of help.
Let me know if you have other questions or doubt to clarify.I will be happy to assist you further.
Kind Regards!

Thanks for clarifying. My only other question is this: is there any treatment for a comedo?
Brief Answer:
There are many available treatments.
Detailed Answer:
Hello again!
Hope you are doing well!
Yes,there are a large number of treatments for comedones. It depends if they are open comedones or closed ones.
This treatments include :
-Comedo extractions
-Microdermabrasion
-Chemical peels
-Light and laser therapy
In your case ,since the comedo is old and seems to be deep ,probably the best approach is comedo extraction.
An open comedo isn't serious and dangerous so it doesn't require any treatment except for esthetic purposes.
So if it is a problem for you and you want it to get rid of it ,you should consult a dermatologist and chose the best option for treatment.
Kind Regards!
