What Does A Small Indentation On Head Of Penis Indicate?
Question: I have a small indentation on the left side of the head of my penis that appeared about 6 months ago. In the same area, I recently noticed a few small areas that feel like there is something rough under the skin like a very small piece of rice. They are not visible to the eye but can only be felt during an erection. No burning or discomfort. Thank you.

The only other medical conditions I have had in the past are an occasional bout of prostatitis. The small bumps are not painful at all but there has been some tenderness / irritation around the ureatha for about a week. The little spots do not appear like worms but feel kinda like a small piece of rice or collection of fluid under the skin. There is a little visible swelling of the penis head between the little spots and the urethea opening. This is also only visible during an erection. They are not visible nor can they be felt except during an erection. I have normal BP and have not had my cholesterol checked for sometime. The small indentation has been there for sometime but the small bumps under the skin have only been there a week. Thank you.

Problem doesn't seem to be big one.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
thanks for writing back,
After reading through all the history and description you gave i am quite sure that this is a problem in your sinuses/veins of the penis whose normal function is to swell up during erection as blood fills them up but due to wear and tear caused by some disease, habit or autoimmune process or any other reason ,their swelling gets abnormal and they can be felt under skin, fact that they are rough also supports the wear n tear theory.
COMMON CAUSES:
Here are some common causes because of which these sinuses or blood pockets can be felt.
1-Peyronie’s disease
A lump or plaque (scar tissue) forms on the lining of the erectile tissue which holds much of the blood in the penis during erection. In most cases, a hard lump can be felt at the point where the penis curves.
The hardened area or plaque prevents normal stretching and can affect the size and shape of the erect penis. In severe cases, the plaque can include the muscle and arteries of the penis leading to erectile problems.(that is an extreme case i am not suggesting that you are having it just giving you a list of possible answers ).
2- Swollen Seat glands:
Sweat glands may appear as lumps during an erection, so I suspect it is something like this and not anything to worry about. The normal penis can seem abnormal at times with various lumps, bumps, vein engorgement, etc. Of course if it bothers you, seeing a doctor can be wise if only for peace of mind.
3- Trauma/wear and tear:
Apparently there is the possibility of trauma to the penis, which could even be caused by masturbation, that might result in a build up of plaque. You may want to discuss this with your urologist to see if this is the case for you since the particular site in question is related to the spot you have repeatedly grabbed with masturbation. In this case I don't know if it will resolve on its own or even if it is of any long-term consequence.
4- Venous dysfunction:
Due to some unknown reasons sometimes walls of veins can get loose or floppy or they can get hard fibrous, both these scenarios manifest as abnormal hardened rough veins specially at sides of the shaft.
SUGGESTIONS:
1-I here by wanna assure you that there doesn't seem to be anything dangerous in your case.
2- You might wanna pay a visit to your urologist so that he can examine, rule out or rule in different possible causes.
3- The treatment is going to be according to the cause, mostly as this condition is benign and not dangerous, we don't go for treatment because meds don't really help any ways and surgery is very invasive with little surity of good results. I would suggest you to see your urologist if you want a complete look up and diagnosis, and if you wanna know treatment options.
Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!
