What Does Absence Of Periods After Removal Of IUD Suggest?

Question: Hi

I had my copper IUD removed on the 16th April, my last period was around 29th March and I still have not started my period. I have had unprotected sex but have done an at home pregnancy test which was negative. Is this common with copper IUD removals or is there a chance I am pregnant?

Brief Answer:
Both the possibility.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,

Thanks for trusting healthcaremagic about your health care.
I can understand your concern here.
The chances of pregnancy have always been there with unprotected sex.
The fertility return back immediately after removal of IUD.
So in your case both are the possibility means your period may be delayed due to IUD and due to pregnancy.
Your pregnancy test is negative due to false negative ( for how many days after sex you had urine test), may be ovulation and conception is delayed.
Wait for a week and repeat test after it.
Hope it is useful, feel free to discuss more.
Regards
