What Does An Abnormal Count Of EGFR Mean?

Posted on Mon, 4 Apr 2022
Question: I am a 52 yo female and just had a physical. My complete blood panel was all within normal range except a <60 EGFR of 52? My doctors said I may have been dehydrated because all the other tests (liver, BUN,... etc.) were normal. Should I be concerned? I don't smoke, eat well and get exercise?

Brief Answer:
I agree with your doctor

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

I agree with your doctor that since your other tests are within normal range then this is probably due to dehydration. However, I would recommend that you start drinking enough water (at least eight cups of water daily) and repeat the test after one month if still not within normal range then you should check on your cardiac, liver and kidney functions.

I hope you find this helpful.
