What Does An Acrid Feeling In Throat Indicate?

I'm a fairly healthy 86, with AFib and a pacemaker. I swim a half mile or walk 2 miles three times a week, usually. Today was XXXXXXX and I worked very slowly and "gently" (not strenuously) weeding in the garden from one pm to 2:30 pm. I knew it was hot (NJ) and did not push myself. I wasn't tired out. But I stopped when I felt an acrid sort of feeling in my throat. I had drunk 16 ounces of water while working, but I never had felt that feeling before and simply laid down in the shade under a tree. Is there any cardiac connection with such a feeling? Thank you for your thoughts. XXXX
NO cardiac connection with acid feeling in the throat!
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.
I am so sorry to hear about this acid feeling in the throat and all the disturbances this has caused you. The most likely cause of this is fluid returning from the stomach into the throat. This is even more likely as you drank a good amount of water mattering the stomach content to be very liquid which facilitates fluid return to the throat. This is termed gastro-esophageal reflux. Because the stomach contains acid, ,fluid from the stomach is acidic and explains your symptoms. There is no cardiac connection to this.
Keeping healthy and physically first is a great way to stay healthy. Keep doing that as much as you can.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
