What Does An Eye Check Up Evaluate?
Question: Just had an eye exam for my yearly check up for contacts. During the exam the doctor shined a bright light, handheld instrument in my eyes and told his assistant to mark down 0.2 in both eyes, normal. What does that mean? What was he looking at? He did NOT dialate my eyes, but im so afraid i have a brain tumor. Would he have seen something if i did? Normal MRI with and without contrast six months ago back in XXXXXXX Ive had nausea and dizziness since Monday - ER doctor said I had fluid in my right ear (I just got over a cold) but said that shouldnt have caused the vertigo - I couldnt even get out of bed for two hours because the vertigo was so bad I couldnt walk. Since then, ive felt off balance, and nauseated. So worried this is brain cancer. 27/F. I take a multivitamin and 50mcg levothyroxine everyday. Thyroid is fine, just checked four weeks ago.

What the doctor was talking about was C:D ratio, that is the ratio between your optic disc and optic cup. This in your case was better than normal and you do not have toworry about glaucoma as this is where one starts suspecting glaucoma.Under the present condetion you have to concentrate on the ENT problem and do not worry about other aspects as well as glaucoma.
Please do get back to me in case of any further query in this regard.
