What Does An Open Sore On Inner Thigh Indicate?

Need more information; upload more pics
Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic
I am Dr. Kakkar. I have gone through your query.
In this photograph I can notice a single sore and there is surrounding redness. There is also a bigger area of redness in the surrounding skin (upper part of photograph)
The photograph you have posted is a very close-up shot. I would like you to upload a better photograph (preferably 3-5 photographs, a few from distance) so that I am able to assess the whole area of concern.
There is bigger area of redness above the sore, I would like you to include that area also in the photograph
-How long since you noticed this sore?
-Is the surrounding reddened area itchy? Do you scratch a lot?
-The redness has been there for a few weeks?Did you try any treatment for that?
-Is the redness on both the sides or is it confined to just one side?
Regards

There is single one right now. The other area that is darker/reddish in the upper part of the photograph relates to a skin tag that was protruding that was taken out a month ago by freezing at the Dr's office. It took 2 weeks for it to fall off after being frozen.
I noticed this about 6 weeks ago or so but it looked mostly red like a bug bite but was flat. I had 2 others, one my other leg on the right thigh and one close to my hip. Those went away and never looked like this one although they all started looking like a little flat red area. No treatment was done. They were a little itchy at first, not painful. They felt like bug bites. I don't know if this one is related, but the couple of others I had a few weeks ago that have gone away on might other thigh front and near the hip area looked like the following:

I remember because they had that deeper red color which looked odd to me. I don't want to influence your diagnosis but wanted to also provide that information.
I am looking to rule out the likelyhood of an STD if possible. Thanks.
Not herpes; fungal infection is likely
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Unfortunately I have not received the newly uploaded photograph. I am just able to see the earlier one.
You may try and upload it again. To do that go to the reports section and upload the pics Or else you may also mail the photographs to YYYY@YYYY with the subject line as "Attn. Dr. Kakkar"
After going through your history I can say that it is very unlikely to be herpes simply because it has persisted for 6 weeks, which is very unusual for herpes.
Genital herpes has a more rapid evolution and it is either a vesicle or an erosion/ulcer right from the beginning, unlike this lesion.
Moreover herpes lesions are usually grouped vesicles or a cluster of erosion are painful or burn.
To me this lesion looks more like a fungal infection (Dry scaly patch of skin in the groin) which you might have scratched and therefore looks eroded.
You may apply an OTC topical antifungal e.g 1% clotrimazole cream twice daily
An OTC antihistamine e.g cetrizine 10 mg would provide you symptomatic relief from itching.

Bacterial folliculitis; topical antibacterial
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
I have reviewed the recent ones that you have posted.
After going through these, particularly "Scan Oct 23, 2014, 11.01 AM.pdf", I would like to review my diagnosis to "Bacterial Folliculitis".
This is certainly not herpes!!
You may apply an OTC antibacterial e.g 2% mupirocin ointment twice daily. It should heal in a 3-5 days.
In this picture, also visible is a dark-spot nearby, probably the site of healed skin tag.
Also visible in the picture; In the upper part of the thigh towards the groin folds, you seem to have a pigmented area; most likely a fungal infection.
You may use an OTC topical antifungal e.g 1% clotrimazole cream twice daily, over that area.
