What Does Atherosclerosis Without Dilation Mean?
Question: What does atherosclerosis without dilation mean? It was in my report of CTScan for my gall bladder
Brief Answer:
please upload the report...
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
atherosclerosis and dilation do not fit together! Perhaps 'without dilation' was referring to the common bile duct. 'Without dilation' is its normal state. Atherosclerosis signifies an old artery that has lipid plaques all over its walls. These plaques make the lumen narrower and affect the way the artery behaves. They are also sources of emboli that may obstruct smaller arteries. Atherosclerotic arteries are stiff and not as elastic as healthy arteries. Thus they are more prone to rupture and less capable to handle increased arterial pressure.
