Brief Answer:
Basilar fibrosis means scarring of the base of the lung.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, sorry you have been so sick.

Basilar fibrosis means that there was scarring seen at the base of a lung. This can be caused by various problems, but given that you have just had a severe pneumonia, that would be the likely cause.

Good questions to ask your doctor when you talk with him are how much scarring is present and what he thinks the significance of that scarring is (i.e. how much is it likely to effect your breathing capacity). Ask what follow up tests he feels would be appropriate at this point.

Most likely he will want to give your lungs time to heal from the pneumonia to reassess.

If you smoke, definitely try to quit.

I hope this information helps.
