Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that your 17 years old son has gross hematuria since very recently.
I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making comments on your problem.
1) What do you mean by hematuria happened after contact?
2) Does his Routine urine test revealed Proteinuria?
3) Does he have any urinary complains like burning ,frequency ,urgency etc?
4) Does he have pain associated with hematuria?
5)Have you done his blood tests for Coagulation profile?
6)Have you done his ultrasound scanning of abdomen and what are the findings?
7) Have you done his endoscopic examination of a bladder(Cystoscopy) by a Urologist?
Gross Hematuria is mostly due to one of the following reasons and needs to be investigated thoroughly to find out the source of bleeding
1) Infection in urinary system
2) Stones in urinary system
3) Mass lesion in urinary system
4) Blood .Coagulation abnormality?.
5) IGg Nephropathy.
Please consult qualified Urologist and Nephrologist for joint consultation and investigations .
Further treatment and any more tests like Renal biopsy and Renal Angiography to be done will depend upon the results of these tests
Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions ,
I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

For some reason I was not able to post my entire message.
My son has bad knees and was taking motrin for about a year 5 days out of the week
usually 2 a day. He was sick with bronchitis and has asthma and was on steroids zithromax and motrin when he felt well enough to go to his basketball game.
It was a very physical game and after came home and had visible blood in his urine.
We went straight to the ER. He had urinalysis compliment, cvc testing. Also a chest x ray which showed pneumonia . By the time we left there was no more blood. one week later he returned and played a game in which he took elbows to the chest area
possibly lower. He had blood again which I took straight to the pediatrician when we got there he gave another sample that was completely normal. Everything was okay for the next 3 weeks we went to Disney World rode all the rides and walked all over and was fine. We came back and he was weight training and some lessons with running shooting drills and he was fine. He played in a game last night actually it was 3 consecutive games at the high school and checked himself after the first one and he was fine at the end he had blood in his urine which resolved within the hour.
Went to the doctor in the morning and urine was clear and cvc was normal.
We have not seen a urologist just the pediatric nephrologist. I have to wonder if he never played in that first game if this would have happened. I'm pretty concerned still.
Hematuria could be due to excessive exercise.
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for detail feedback.
His hematuria could be induced due to excessive exercise and dehydration .However I would suggest to consult qualified Urologist and get his endoscopic examination of bladder (Cystoscopy) done to rule out any obvious pathology.
Thanks and Regards.
