Question: I am a 74 yr old female experiencing blood in my urine. It is pinkish, not old blood. I am also seeing small, pin point clots on the tissue when I wipe. What could be the possible cause of this?

Brief Answer:
We need some more information!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this blood you have reported in urine. I will like to obtain some more information for a more detailed response and recommendations.

1. For how long has this being going on?
2. Is all the urine stream pink or just part of it?
3. Do you have any vaginal bleeding, pain during urination?
4. How often do you urinate?

Blood in urine, if truly from the urinary tract, can be caused by number of different conditions. The most common are infections, kidney stones, clotting disorders, some tumors, kidney disease and at times no cause is found. To determine what the exact problem is, I will recommend that you get consulted for proper examination and urine analysis. Only by these means would we be able to provide clear answers as to the cause and suggest appropriate treatment.

I know you are for sure concerned and may be afraid of the unknown, I would like to inform you that most causes of this are fully and easily treatable. You should not get too worried but rather follow through for answers and proper treatment. For now, drink much water to help cleanse the system.

I hope to hear from you. I wish you well. Feel free to ask more related questions if need be.
