Brief Answer:
Please take antacids followed by light food and follow instructions below

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.

1. Zoloft contains sertraline and there have been intense burning after having taken it, this is usually seen when the tablet dissolves in the esophagus when swallowing it. People who take half tablets are more prone for this problem.

2. Please take antacids and followed by food after 30 minutes. If you do not have antacids at the moment then you can reduce the burning by taking light food.

3. If it is the first time that you have taken Zoloft and this has happened then an allergic reaction should also be considered and please talk to your pharmacy.

4. If you take zoloft regularly and this is the first time it has happened then it is an isolated incident and you can prevent it by taking few sips of water before swallowing the tablet and then taking adequate fluids to wash the tablet down the esophagus.

5. Please avoid lying down for 15 to 30 minutes after taking this medicine.

Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek
