What Does Chest X-ray Showing 10mm Nodule Indicate?
Question: I went in for pre-admit testing for a procedure to remove a lost iud . I also have fibroid tumors that my doctor said not to worry about they would probably shrink when I went through menopause. ( I am 45 yo female)
I came down with a sinus infection in late december and still have a persistent productive cough. I mentioned this at preadmit so they did a chest X-ray and found a 10mm nodule and referred me to a primary Dr to get a chest CT. This all happened Friday at 4:30pm and I have an appt Monday at 8:40am but it seems like a long time away. I do not smoke but I did and I quit 16 years ago right before my 30th birthday. My dad died from lung cancer last year but smoke 3 packs of unfiltered camels a day. I am more than a little freaked everything I read in the internet points to lung cancer which is scary.

Brief Answer:
Its a possiblity
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
i can understand your concerns.
A 10 mm nodule can be significant, but we need to confirm it.
The fact that you have smoked earlier and that you have family history of lunc cancer makes you more susceptible .
But it also depends on your symptoms , as if detected early it can be cured.
Do you have any cough or loss of weight or apetite?

I have had a cough for about 7 weeks. Mainly in the morning with blowing nose , mucous stuff not horrible. I have also been hoarse on and off since I got the sinus infection 7 weeks ago. No weight loss or loss of appetite I wish.
Brief Answer:
Chances of cancer less
Detailed Answer:
hi,
Then the chances of your having lung cancer is less as the cough sounds more like a viral infection.
I will advise you to get a biopsy report of the nodule.
