What Does Creatinine Level Of 2.4 Indicate?
Unilateral kidney
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query
It looks like your father has a single kidney, this is something he has been born with.
Going by the reports it looks like he has acute kidney injury due to fever and it should go back to normal once the fever settles down.
I suggest you to do the following
1. The root cause for the fever has to be known, the usual cause for fever like typhoid, malaria, dengue, etc has to be ruled out and treated with appropriate antibiotics.
2. The second most common cause for acute kidney injury is dehydration, he has to take plenty of fluids in the form of water. Avoid fruit juices and tender coconut water at the moment
3. The third most important thing is to avoid drugs that are harmful to the kidneys, I can help with that if you can give the list of drugs he is currently on.
4. Avoid smoking and painkillers
I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me
I wish you father a speedy recovery and your family a very happy and a prosperous diwali
Regards
Thank you for the reply. It was really helpful. We had taken test for Dengue and Malaria and both have been Negative. I have now also attached the Serum protein test which indicates Hypoalbuminemia. Can you please explain me the cause for this. As for as medicine goes He is just taking Paracetamol as of now.
Nutritional and urinary protein loss
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for getting back
There are two reasons which could have caused hypoalbuminemia ( low albumin in blood).
The first one is renal loss of protein because of raised creatinine ( Urine protein creat ratio of 0.6) and second reason is reduced intake of enough proteins in the diet.
I recommend you to avoid animal protein especially red meat. Plant protein in the form of soya or dal can help improve albumin
