What Does Dark Colored Stool In A Person Suggest?
Question: Hi. My stool had a mix of light brown & dark color ..it looked like it was more of dark brown. Is that normal?
Brief Answer:
Normal stool color is brown;following causes to variation...
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I understand your concern.
The normal color of the stool is brown due to bile being secreted in the feces. The lighter the color, the more frequent your bowel movements and possibly lack of bile secretion.
The dark color might be due to:
- constipation: prolonged staying of feces inside your bowels
- foods/drinks you consume
As you may understand, I must know:
- if you have experienced changes in your bowel movements recently?
- any change in diet? any new food/drink?
- any medication or multivitamin taken recently?
Looking forward to have the requested information in!
