What Does Dark Spot On The Shin Post Injury Indicate?
Question: I was hit in the shin with a golf ball 7 months ago. It immediately swelled to the size of an orange. I now have a very dark spot left but no pain. How can I get the dark spot to disappear?
Brief Answer:
Due to hematoma.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The appearance of swelling after the hit is suggestive of a soft tissue injury and hematoma formation in the area. The skin pigmentation that you see now is due to blood that was collected at that time. It is likely to degrade and disappear on its own with time. Skin lightening creams are not likely to help.
I hope this answers your query.

Thank you! I have a feeling it's going to be a while before the pigment lightens. I'll just try to be patient!
