What Does Diarrhea Indicate While Taking Nutrolin B Syrup?
My son (4 months old, 7.5 Kg) is suffering from loose motions from yesterday. He passed it 5 times a day. Currently we are giving nutrolin b syrup 2.5 ml three times a day. Will it be fine? Do I need to use any other medicine?
One month back also he had motions at that time doctor prescribed Neutrolin B, Septran, and Sporlac.
Till now we are feeding him with mother's milk only. He puts his hand in his mouth most of the time. So it might be because of bacteria in his hand.
Does his mother need to avoid any food?
Thanks,
Kxxxxx
Continue mother's milk and neutrolin B
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for asking on this platform
Most common cause of loose motion(not containing blood) in this age is viral infection.
Antibiotic is usually not needed unless there is evidence of bacterial infection.
Neutrolin B contains vitamin(helps in rapid healing of damaged intestinal cells) and lactobacillus(helps in maintaining normal gut flora).
Septran is an antibiotic and sporolac contains lactobacillus. So both these are not needed.
I would like to add Zinc 10 mg per day for 14 days(5 ml of most of the zinc syrup contains 20 mg)as it also helps in rapid healing of intestinal wall, increases immunity and thus decreases the recovery time.
Continue mother's milk and watch for danger signs like frequent vomiting, poor feeding, poor activity, blood in stool or decreased urinary frequency.
Most of the babies recover within 4-5 days. If duration of loose stool prolongs or you find any other danger signs please consult your pediatrician.
I hope this helps.
Please let me know if you have any more questions.

Thanks for the quick response. I have further questions.
1. His bum area (anus) is red because of loose motions. Currently we are applying candid dusting powder. Is this fine? Any other medicine for quick healing of this redness? This might be main reason for his irritation.
2. We were giving JusDee 0.5 ml and Zincovit drops 0.5 ml per day normally. Stopped them when he got loose motions. Can we continue these during loose motions? As you are suggesting Zinc can you suggest any brand medicine or will Zincovit be fine?
Thanks,
Kxxxxx
You can continue zincovit and JusDee, apply rashfree
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Redness in perianal area can be due to moisture or due to transient lactose intolerance. Improper digestion of lactose that is present in milk causes irritation and skin damage due to acidic pH.
Applying Zinc oxide based cream like Rashfree three times a day helps. Keep the area dry.As baby is on breast milk you continue that. Give lactase drops(contains lactase enzyme) 10 drops before each feed.
You can continue JusDee and zincovit drop. Zincovit is basically multivitamin drop and zinc content is low. I suggest you to give zinc syrup(zinconia/zincup) for zinc supplementation.
I hope all these measures will help.
In case of any significant abnormality please consult your pediatrician.
