First,you donhave to be concerned since this is obviously noncomplicated rib fracture without repercussion on lungs. Ct is much more sensitive than xrays and any lung damage would be detected. Elevated cupola means that diaphragm is moved up and this is in most cases seen if you didnt take enough breath during xray or your stomach and bowel were filled with air. It is true that some lung and diaphragm diseases would lead to elevated cupola too,but in case of thorax contusion this can be only lung atelectasis,lung contusion,pneumothorax or liquidothorax. All this wasnt seen on xrays and ct scan. so you can ignore previous finding of elevated cupola and be treated as nondisplaced rib fracture. Wish you good health. feel free to ask. regards

The doctor said i should ignore it but i have a hard time believing him as he is not specialized doctor and i am always paranoid about health issues. Do you think if there is a raised diaphragm copula the radiologist would have mentioned it in the CT scan. Should i forget the comments of the X ray results ? Pleqe

of course that it would be mentioned. but obviosuly diaphragm wasnt elevated anymore on ct which is superior test comparing to xrazys and this is proof that it was caused by your breathing during xrays. i see such findings every day and trust me this is nothing.
