What Does Euthyroid Mean?

default
Posted on Wed, 17 Feb 2016
Question: I have already done this.I don't know if when you asked for my question above you needed it again

1. what does clinically euthyroid mean. the cardiologist wrote that on my report.
2. I was a headteacher happily running my school. I used to go for every aliment. but when I felt faint a few times my deputy told me to walk round in the fresh air. my dad died in front of me when I was 13 and it was because he had a defective heart from birth, so I was usually a bit of a hypondriac going to the doctor for everything although everyone else in my family have died in their 80's and 90's. no cancer in the family. I regret that I didn't keep to my strict regime and see the doctor when I felt faint and ignore her advice, I was fine for 8 years and then got ill. for ten years I have been scared that I am dying.

Brief Answer:
Anxiety disorder

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to HCM. Thank you for your question. I understand your concern.

Of course, there is a atrong genetic relation between heart diseases and descendants. However, if something was genetically wrong with your heart, referring to your age of 63-years old, it would have probably "shown its face" by now. Therefore, my opinion is that you have nothing to worry about. Just to be in the clear, however, I would recommend you an echo cardiogram to evaluate the size, movement and function of heart structures. No need to become hypochondriac about your father's disorders, as you have a whole family tree that had natural deaths in the 80's and 90's.

Anxiety disorder, mainly when associated with panic attacks, are accompanied with a spike of adrenalin levels in the organism. Even fear is called a type of anxiety (situational anxiety) in medical languagez Adrenalin, among others, may increase the heart rate, blood pressure, produce shortness of breath and, as a feedback, produce more fear, a state when one asks himself "what is happening to me?" "is this how it ends?" "am I goind to die now?". In my personal experience, I have dealt with many patients with panic attacks due to generalized anxiety disorder. Therefore, I would recommend you a consult with a psychiatrist. This is only that you can be installed in medication that ameliorates your quality of life. I am referring to a combination of benzodiazepine with a anti-psychotic drug, to further help you with your quality of life and work. Also, a 60-minutes a day of physical activity is beneficial, both physically and psycologically.

I hope I was helpful with my answer. Feel free to ask a follow-up question, as I am glad to help. Please rate the answer, if you do not have further questions.

Wish you the best,
Dr. Meriton

Brief Answer:
Hello again

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back!

As a cardiologist, I would rely totally to my first answer to the query, as about the cardiology part.

I would like to add that, I would recommend you to see another psychiatrist, as this seems as a general anxoety disorder with panic attacks. Panic attacks may sometimes not be perceived as such by the individual suffering them. But there is a clear component triggering your panic attacks, such as the very important clue that you cannot go the theatre, even though you already bought your tickets. My opinion is that you should discuss with your psychiatrist about the dosage, frequency and class of the drugs you are on.

I hope this is helpful. If you do not have follow-up questions, close the discussion and rate the answer.

Best regards,
Dr. Meriton
