What Does Flat Oval Shaped Nodules Near The Anus Indicate?
Question: I am an almost 52 yr old woman. Several months ago I noticed a small, flat, oval shaped disc like nodule, whitish in color, close to, but not on my anus. I also have itching and burning and occasional watery leakage. I am scared of what this might be. Should I be concerned?

I read your question and I understand your concern. Peri anal lump tender to touch leaking discharge and persistent for a couple of months give likely differentials of haemorrhoids, anal fissure , anal tag, anal wart secondary to papilloma virus and last but not the least peri anal abscess.
The only way to narrow the differentials is get the anus examined and assessed.
You can apply topical anesthetic gels like lignocaine easily available over the counter for the pain relief. Use soft water soaked toilet paper and avoid rough wiping. Use warm tepid saline water or water mixed with povidone solutions and sit in it for at least 15 minutes twice a day. Use fibrous diet and drink plenty of fluids.
Keep the area hair free and are avoid moisture by wearing loose undergarments preferably cotton.
