What Does Gestational Sac Measuring 5.3mm X 10.8mm X 5.9mm Indicate?

Question: Hi!

My LMP was 2 October 2015.

We had intercourse just once on 16 October (cycle day 16). I had distinct ovulation pain on days 16 and 17.

I got a faint positive pregnancy test on 31st October.

I went for an early transactional scan yesterday at what I thought was 6 weeks 3 days and all we saw was an empty gestational sac measuring 5.3mm X 10.8mm X 5.9mm Mean sac diameter 7.3mm. There wasn't even a yolk sac.

Could I still be within a chance of seeing something at my rescan considering we only had intercourse once and the timing of my positive pregnancy test?

My hospital have told me they won't be doing hug levels.

Brief Answer:
You should wait for another scan because you have chances for a viable preg

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear and thanks for trusting to us .

I understand your concern but please be calm until your next scan ,because you have chances for a viable pregnancy.

First I should know method of scan.
It was tranabdominal or transvaginal ?!

Because transvaginal scan is more precise than transabdominal scan.

On transvaginal scan on a mean sac of 8 mm we can see a yolk sac ,hence while your mean gestational sac is 7.3 mm ,your pregnancy age is smaller than we can calculate from your last periods.

Take folic acid 400 micro gram per day ,until your pregnancy will be 12 weeks .

All the best and good motherhood

Thank you! It was a vaginal scan. It was a private scan i paid for but they reffered me to my local hospital who want to scan me for themselves today. Is it likely 24 hours will show any difference?

Brief Answer:
IS VERY EARLY FOR THE NEXT SCAN

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear again!

In fact is very early to see changes on one pregnancy ,because MSD (mean sac diameter) increases only by 1 mm per day.

If you where my patient I would recommended you two alternatives ;
one -to wait for one week for another ultrasound scan
second -to do for tow days in a row Bhcg blood test to see if it increase or not .

ALL THE BEST
