What Does Green Colored Loose Stool Indicate?
Question: what does loose green stool tell me
Brief Answer:
Information
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Green color to stool can be caused by eating green leafy food, or foods that have green dyes or coloring.
But it can also happen when food travels through the intestinal tract too fast, such as with diarrhea. In that situation, there isn't time to break down the bile pigments produced by the liver, and so they show up in the stool as a greenish color.
This is usually only a passing situation and not concerning. If you are having diarrhea, the green color will likely resolve when the diarrhea resolves (such as if you have a stomach "flu").
I hope this answers your question. Please let me know if I can provide further information.

I
have not eaten anything green in the last 2 days, so I think the reason is probably
the fast passage as I do have diarrhea. I have diarrhea frequently, but not green.
Thanks for the information.

Yes, diarrhea would explain it.
If you have diarrhea frequently, please do talk with your doctor about it. Stool tests and a colonoscopy (if you haven't had one in recent years) would be indicated to evaluate this.
