What Does Heart Rate Between 55-57 Indicate?
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Question: I recently repeated all my tests which included blood work, echo, stress test and 48 hour holter monitor. Everything seems to be normal however I have a question regarding my resting heart rate. It seems to be in the 55-57 range however I am not physically active for the last 6 months. However I have lost 75 LBS through good eating over a 10 month period. Is it ok for my heart rate to be in that range even though I am not an athlete? I am a 31 year old male
Brief Answer:
It's ok for your heart to be in a range between 55-57...
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking!
I read your query very carefully and understood your concern.
Your HR is in a range between 55-57 bpm which is ok and very protective for the heart. Although it's slightly below norm (norm is between 60-100 bpm) you have nothing to worry about as long as all test you did resulted normal.
You are reporting that you loose weigh over 10 months and this may be the cause of such a finding. When you are obese the heart is addicted to high rates to supply with blood all the body. After loosing weigh the heart doesn't require high rates to supply a smaller body.
Wish you health!

Hi Doctor Thank you. I just got off the phone with my doctor about my holter monitor my original holter 6 months ago showed 925 PACS the one I did last week only showed 50 PVCS and 150 PACS over 48 hours. He told me my heart rate went down to 41 during sleep. He said no arythmia all in sinus rythm. This is scaring me. 41 seems low
Brief Answer:
During deep sleep HR is going low to 40 beats per minutes...
Detailed Answer:
Hi back,
You shouldn't worry about HR during the sleep as long as on holter weren't recorded any cardiac pause. It's normal to have such a finding while on sleep. During deep sleep HR is going low to 40 beats per minutes and this is normal.
Wish you health!
