Well, technically or rather diagnostically we define POTS when a patient has about 30 or more beats on standing than normal lying down (resting) pulse rate. For effective diagnosis the pulse has to be checked within the first 10 minutes of posture change. Accordingly I will go with your POTS suspicion. However in order to have an effective diagnosis, I recommend that you get tilt table test done.
Tilt table test is an office procedure / test where you will strapped to a tiltable table table. Your doctor or the office nurse will check pulse rate as well as blood pressure in lying down position, at 60 degree tilt and 80 - 90 degree tilt.
