What Does Heart Rate Of 102 When I Stand Indicate?

Question: my heart rates goes from 72 to 102 when I stand then drops to 65 when I lay down, then after a minute goes to 77. And I have a little shortness of breath, feels hard to exhale all the way. I am sure I have PITS. I have every symptom. And this is on a hood day. I had an Ecg. was abnormal but stress test was good. but on a day I felt good. I get syncope at dentist and extreme weakness if arms above head, have to constantly lay down to feel better.

You should get a tilt table test done...

Detailed Answer:
Well, technically or rather diagnostically we define POTS when a patient has about 30 or more beats on standing than normal lying down (resting) pulse rate. For effective diagnosis the pulse has to be checked within the first 10 minutes of posture change. Accordingly I will go with your POTS suspicion. However in order to have an effective diagnosis, I recommend that you get tilt table test done.

Tilt table test is an office procedure / test where you will strapped to a tiltable table table. Your doctor or the office nurse will check pulse rate as well as blood pressure in lying down position, at 60 degree tilt and 80 - 90 degree tilt.

Call your local doctor and discuss about this test.
