What Does Hemoglobin Of 10 Indicate?

Question: hi! overall my HB is 10. My lipid profile reports say i have Cholesterol about 200. Want to know how bad is it?
& What can be done

Dear Madam
1. The hemoglobin of 10 is definitely low for your profile. It needs to be worked up. First of all you must get it rechecked to ensure it is indeed low. There after you need to know the type of anemia (state of low hemoglobin) by peripheral smear. Depending upon the type of anemia and other clues from peripheral smear examination, your physician will plan a work up to decipher the cause of anemia and its management.
2. A single value of total cholesterol , on its face , seems fine but does not convey much. I would request you to share your detailed lipid profile, so that I can elaborate more on it. This includes values of HDL, LDL and VLDL cholesterol. Please also share all your current illnesses and medical condition. Also let me know if you are a smoker?
