What Does High Platelet Count In A CBC Report Indicate?
She suggested that I have it taken again to rule out anemia or any relative issues pertaining to my endometriosis and fibroids diagnosis.
My question is could there be something more serious wrong? Is there cause for worry?
I began taking iron pills to help the anemia possibility, but it made my stool black and kind of made me panic so I stopped.
I was given the depo shot to relieve the pains from the endo and fibroids. It has been a terrible experience and I have only been on it one month.
Please advise me of any cause for worry and what it could mean to have slightly elevated platelets.
Thank you.
No need to worry about platelet count.
Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
Your platelet count is normal. Even if it is slightly high then also its not a cause of worry.
High platelet count is common in iron deficiency anemia. But its common condition and need iron therapy only. Nothing serious about that.
You should go for complete blood count, serum iron and ferritine level to check exactly whether you have iron deficiency or not.
Blackning of stool is common with oral iron medication. So if you can tolerate oral iron then no need to worry about blackning of stool. You can continue that.
For your endometriosis progesterone therapy should be taken but you should take it according to your gynecologist advice.
As far as platelet count is concern, there is nothing to worry. Just be relaxed.
