What Does Indentation On The Side Of The Arm Indicate?
Question: Hello!! I've been suffering from health anxiety lately, primarily focused on skin concerns. I've had recent skin cancer screenings and decided to do a monthly check myself. While I was checking my back and side area today, I noticed that I have a small "indent" (for lack of a better word) about three quarters of an inch, down below my arm on my side. When I stretch my arm out it becomes more pronounced. The skin around it is normal appearance and color and when I press around it there are no lumps or anything. I read once that dimpling on your breast could be a sign of breast cancer, but this is much farther over to my side. I'm attaching an image as best as I could take, the area that is red is because I was pressing on it, and the small indent is within that area.
Do you have any idea of what this could be and is it anything to be concerned about? Thank you!

Hello. Thank you for writing to us
I am dr.kakkar (dermatologist).
I have gone through your query and I have noted your concern. I have viewed the image. I can appreciate the indentation in this image.
This seems like a localized area of fat atropy i.e lipoatrophy. It is benign.
Regards

Hi Dr. Kakkar! I'm so happy it was you who answered my question! I was hoping it was just cellulite or something similar....it may have been there for awhile for all I know, and actually this is right about the area where the bottom of my bra sits.
Ugh! I was doing so much better with the health anxiety and decided to do a monthly skin check (limiting myself to once a month!) and then I spotted this area. I am so grateful that I have you to provide reassurances....you have been a godsend to me!
