What Does Iron Saturation At 3 And Iron Serum At 14 Idnciate?

Question: I just had my blood test and my iron saturation is 3 and iron serum 14. How soon do I need to see a hematologist?...I don't have health insurance right now. Where can I get medical care for cash?

Brief Answer: Severe anemia Detailed Answer: Hello Thanks for the query Your serum iron and iron saturation is critically low, I strongly advice you to meet your family physician for Intra venous iron replacement as soon as possible. However urgency of anemia is based on the Hemoglobin and symptoms of anemia. Hemoglobin <7g/dl is considered low and also the common symptoms of anemia like 1. Tiredness 2. Swelling of the leg 3. Palpitations 4. Breathlessness 5. Pale skin If you have any of the above symptoms please approach your doctor soon. Thank you very much. If I understend correctly you think that PCP can do intra venous iron replacement? Is that mean that I do not need to look for specialist? I have no insurance and I will pay out of pocket.
