Detailed Answer:
Hello Madam,
Welcome again and thanks for posting important details.
As the condition is present from 3 days only with sudden onset so it is quite early to make exact diagnosis of the problem but after thoroughly analyzing all the information, I can make out important points regarding your condition:
1. Let me first reassure you that your condition does not appear to be due to any systemic cause or an internal disease. To tell you medically for this point is that in case of an internal problem or a systemic disease the condition most often appears slowly and involves complete oral cavity or at least complete tongue if not internal cheeks and
palate. In your case as it appeared suddenly with burning on tip of tongue only so makes a possibility of local causes rather than systemic causes.
2. In most of the cases of sudden onset of burning sensation can be due to an “aphthous ulcer” which has not erupted and just causing soreness and
redness to the tip of tongue rather than forming a proper ulcer. These
aphthous ulcers are quite common entity and present itself in varied clinical presentation. The sensation of burning and redness can remain form 7-14 days in most of the cases.
3. The second important cause can be due to irritant material coming in contact with the tip of tongue. There can multiple of things such as toothpastes or food items or related material or even sometimes when we sip hot soups or related drinks then also the tip gets red and irritated.
4. There can be a third possibility of tip getting irritated by the sharp
plaque or edge of teeth. SO when we continuously and unintentionally touch the area, then also it can cause redness and soreness over the tip of the tongue.
I suggest you to keep a watch over the area. If it increases and involves rest of the tongue and oral cavity persisting for more than 2 weeks then a probable diagnosis of deficiency state of
vitamins especially vitamin B complex can be made which is known as "Ariboflavinosis" or "hyporiboflavinosis". This too can be because of poor absorptive states of intestine at the age of 70 years. You might be taking good diet but the vitamins and nutrients are very often not absorbed properly due to less absorption by intestine.
For the part of remedy and rest of the suggestions:
- Kindly do not touch your tongue with your teeth or try to perceive or see the grade of soreness by touching your tongue repeatedly. This is one of the sole most important factor in causation of increase in soreness or burning in all the oral issues.
- Eat light, and less spicy food. Do not eat hot food or nay irritant nature of food items.
- You can apply boro-glycerine (1 ml) mixed with tablet
betamethasone (2 tablet). Apply it for 3-4 times on tip very gently.
I again reassure you that it do not appear to be because of any systemic cause and not even to
cutaneous lupus also because of the fact that lupus do not involve tongue.
So keep a watch over the condition and do inform us accordingly.
I hope these informations will help you. If you have further queries I will be happy to help.
"Wish you good glowing skin"
