Detailed Answer:
Good Day and thank you for being with Healthcare Magic!
I am assuming that you had a serum creatinine examination and it showed abnormal result. What is the results of your laboratory examinations? An elevated creatinine is usually caused by dehydration prior to the examination and is very common in your age group. Another factor would be an increased muscle mass or for bulky patients. Since creatinine is a breakdown product of muscle and patients with increased muscle mass has a generally elevated serum creatinine but is not a true reflection of kidney function.
To accurately determine your kidney function I would suggest doing a GFR examination (glomerular filtration rate). This is similar to a CT SCAN but it quantitatively measures how your kidney functions.
I hope I have succeeded in providing the information you were looking for. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications at: http://www.HealthcareMagic.com/doctors/dr-manuel-c-see-iv/66014 I would gladly help you. Best wishes.
