What Does Low Heart Beat In A EKG Report Indicate?
I would explain as follows:
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX!
Welcome on HCM!
I understand your concern and would like to explain that sinus bradycardia is not rarely seen in normal healthy adults. This finding may express a favorable body conditioning to physical and psychological stressful stimuli.
But, before concluding the above mentioned alternative, it is necessary to exclude possible pathological conditions that lead to sinus bradycardia as well.
So, an abnormally decreased thyroid function, an electrolyte imbalance such as hyperkalemia, a sinus node dysfunction, previous systemic inflammations/infections, gastric-cardiac syndrome (Roemheld syndrome) could lead to sinus bradycardia.
Coming to this point, it is necessary to perform some additional medical tests, as follows:
- an ambulatory 24 to 48 hours ECG monitoring (Holter),
- an exercise cardiac stress test,
- thyroid hormones level,
- blood electrolytes level.
- fasting blood glucose,
- renal function tests.
- PCR/ESR,
- additional immunological tests (in case enough suspicions of previous infections are raised)
If after the above tests, nothing abnormal results, then your sinus bradycardia should be considered a normal variant.
That's my opinion.
Hope to have been helpful to you!
In case of any further uncertainties, feel free to ask me again.
Kind regards,
Dr. Iliri
