Brief Answer:
This means hazziness in lower zones of lungs.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Bibasilar means both bases (lower parts) of lungs.
So if something is there on chest x ray in both lower zones, it is termed as Bibasilar.
Since you are having bronchopneumonia, opacities are mostly due to infiltration (consolidation).
So Bibasilar lung opacities means you are still having infiltration in both lower zones of lungs.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

Thank you very much.
I'm at ICU and medicines are ceftriaxone+levofloxacin,I began with 38,2-38,6 and once 39,2 °C,cough yellow, moderate dyspnea.O2 saturation is 90-93 with O2 administration,White bloods cells now 10.000/ slight increase in CRP,HR between 80-85 etc.It has also been found a Q wave in D3,aVF and there has been a slight increase in Troponin that now(after one or two days)is normal.Doctors want to see if there is myocarditis. In summary it seems that it has been a bronchopneumonia in a heart affected patient.
The question arises:do the above bibasilar opacities go away by the aforementioned therapy(it's the 5th day of ceftriaxone+levofloxacin) or doctors have to change antibiotics on the basis of the mentioned pulmonary CT scan and other laboratory findings etc. Thanks and best regards.

Brief Answer:
Better to add azithromycin.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow-up question on HealthcareMagic.
I can understand your concern.

By your history and description, possibility of bronchopneumonia is more.
According to the guidelines, azithromycin should be started in bilateral pneumonia.

Atypical bacteria are common cause for bilateral pneumonia and azithromycin is the best antibiotic for atypical organisms.

So please discuss with your doctor to start azithromycin 500mg once a day along with current antibiotics.

This will help you more.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further.

Wish you good health.
Thanks.
