What Does Mild Fullness Of The Right Renal Collecting System And Right Ureter Mean?
Question: What does mild fullness of the right renal collecting system and right ureter mean?
Hi XXXXXX,
Thanks for writing to XXXXXXX
It could just be normal or there may be a stone in the ureter.
It could also mean recently passed stone in the urine.
If there is pain in the side of the abdomen or back, u need further evaluation, otherwise can wait.
Hope this answers ur query.
Kindly get back for doubts if any,,,

Thank You for the response. I am also hearing that the kidney is having a lit bit of a drainage issue. Yes i am having a lower right discomfort and back as well - have done a CAT scan - it has revealed multiple small stones on the upper pole and middle pole of the right kidney ( without obstruction at this point ) - the radioligist report further quoted mild fullness of the right renal collecting system , so i was trying to understand this point as quite recently i am seeing that the propensity to urinate has alaso changed.
Hi
Thanks for ur response.
There are two kidneys, hope this is confirmed in the scan.
Urination issues should be normal,as long as the other one is ok.
If there is urination issue, the possibilities are
1. stone in the lower part of ureter.
2. symptoms are not related to the drainage from the affected kidney as such.
To assess drainage, the tests to be done are IVP OR RENOGRAM.
WITH A PLAIN CT, WE CANNOT ASSESS DRAINAGE.
Hope this helps, kindly get back for doubts if any.
