What Does My CBC Blood Test Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Sat, 7 Nov 2015
Question: I just a CBC blood test done in Canada, and my results were that my RBC (3.1), neutrophils (1.6), and hemoglobin (117) was below the normal cut off. All of the rest was normal (on the low end). Blood work that I had done 6 months ago was also on the low end, but still within normal. My doctor said that we need to repeat the blood test but I am worried now. I had two periods within one month, a week before the test....and wonder if this could be the cause. Could this be a possible reason? I also notice a bit of weakness when I'm running the last week or two....I know that some of the causes can be serious, but how much should I be concerned?

Brief Answer:
Excess menstrual bleeding is the cause of low hemoglobin.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
You have slightly low rbc count and hemoglobin. Apart ftom nutritional deficiency blood loss is the most common cause of low hemoglobin. You have history of excess menstrual blood loss. So it is the cause of low hemoglobin, low rbc and your weaknesses.

Nothing to worry much about that. You should consult your gynecologist and treat that problem. Your hemoglobin will automatically comes to normal. Till datecyou should take iron rich food and if needed take iron supplements to increase the hemoglobin.
Repeat your complete blood count after3 months. Don't worry much about that. It is not serious.

Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
