What Does My CT Scan Report Indicate?
I am 36 yr old ..
I had this brain ct scan test 2 years back.
I am 36 year old. Is there anything i should worry about?
It has on it ' mild wild cortical sulci' .
Thanks
It could indicate neurodegenerative disorder.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.
I have read your question and understand your concerns.
There are two features to discuss about your brain CT scan results:
1. an arachnoidal cyst of cerebellopontine angle ( a fluid filled space )
2. mild cortical widened sulci.
Arachnoidal cysts in majority of cases don't cause symptoms, only in rare cases they may be symptomatic ( seizures etc.)
Mild cortical sulci widening at your age ( or grade I of cerebral atrophy ) may indicate that there could be degenerative neurological disorder in the way. ( early onset dementia, multiple systems atrophy etc.)
In older people is a common finding of imaging studies.
Besides these imaging findings, it is important to know why that imaging study was done ( or your symptoms ) in order to be more specific about your problems.
Another thing that needs to be done is another comparative CT scan or brain MRI, to evaluate if there is progressing of sulcal widening and measures of the arachnoidal cyst.
There is need for a neurological evaluation of your concerns and correlation with those findings.
Hope this helps.
I remain at your disposal for further questions and clarifications.
When the CT scan was done i had a hypoglycemic seizure and i was at the emergency room unconcious.
Other than that i have never had symptoms .no headaches, memory is very good ..
I have a tendancy to loose things ( short term memory like keys, wallet etc. )
I had an MRI after that in 2 weeks but the report is in French. It was not mentioned on the report that there is widening of sulci.
The doctor at that time there is nothing worriesome.
What do you recommend ?
Is MRI more exact on these things than CT scan ?
MRI is superior to CT scan.
Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.
If you have no symptoms, and if the MRI didn't find any sulcal widening, probably it is nothing.
MRI is superior to CT scan in assessing more accurately brain anatomy.
Forgetting keys could happen to anyone, so don't worry.
In conclusion, if it is true that there was nothing to worry about after MRI, you shouldn't do anything.
If any doubts, you can request a new MRI and comparison with the old one.
Best regards.
Is mild sulci widening reversible ? Is it progressive?
What do you recommend as suplements and nutrition to boost brain health and prevent fast neurological degeneration ?
Thank you for your assistance.
It can be stopped.
Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.
Mild sulci widening is not reversible, but treatment measures should be undertaken to stop progression.
First, the situation needs to be reevaluated with a new MRI.
In general, avoiding alcohol, healthy lifestyle and diet, vitamins B group supplements help in stopping progression.
Hope I helped you.
Best regards.
