Question: Hello Doctor,

My father got a CT Scan and Opinion given on report as below
Opinion : Plain C.T. Study of Brain reveals
1. Encephalomalacic Changes in right occipital region.
2. Lacunar infarcts in above mentioned sites.

what does it mean.

doctor is treating, and told that it will take Min 48 hours, also my father feeling confused and unable to recognize person, please help me

Your father findings suggests small encephalomalacia in right occipital region.
There are small lacunar infarcts in brain.
These are generally not life threatening findings.
Encephalomalcia may be due to many causes like past trauma,ischemia(decreased blood supply),past infection etc.
Lacunar infarcts may be due to long standing hypertension,dyslipidemia etc.

Your father may need conservative treatment and underlying cause like hypertension etc need to be evaluate and treatment.
