What Does My CT Scan Report Indicate?
Question: I was seen in the ER on Tuesday for pain both sides of abdomen dull ache last two weeks left side and sharp shooting pain right side last two weeks. Blood in urine but otherwise clean urine. Blood tests fine except slight anemic. CT scan of abdomen shows 3mm kidney stone left side and
free fluid left side which doctor said indicated a ruptured ovarian cyst. My question is how long will it take for the pain on each side to go away? So far no improvement in pain. Is it OK for me to exercise. I like to walk and run but find it is uncomfortable. want to know how long to expect this pain 6 out of 10 all day long?

Brief Answer:
I would like to have some information.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I would like to have some more information. What did your doctor say regarding further management?
If I were treating you, I would remove the Ruptured ovarian cyst and the fluid in the abdominal cavity either by Laparoscopic method or Open method.
Pain will subside after this procedure.
It's better not to do exercise till pain is totally subsided.
3mm kidney stone doesn't cause much pain.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.

My doctor did not mention any further treatment. He told me to manage with ibuprofen and pain would improve. He never said how long though before it would start feeling better. I have not exercised since Tuesday and will plan to wait until pain is gone. What you are talking about sounds like surgery. Why would I need surgery to remove the fluid, won't my body resorb the fluid? What else could it be? Diverticulitis? I had 12" of my colon removed in 2006 to cure a prolapsed rectum with no problems since.
Brief Answer:
Absorption depends on the quantity of fluid.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
If the fluid collection is minimal,it gets absorbed.
If the collectipn is moderate,it may not be absorbed completely.
In my opinion, pain is not due to fluid. It could be due to rupture of the Ovarian cyst.As the cyst is ruptured, sometimes blood may be present in the abdominal cavity. So,i prefer Laparoscopic approach.
Chances of Diverticulosis are minimal.
I am sorry to say that sometimes,Pain will not get minimised until the ruptured cyst is removed surgically.
Please consult your GYNAECOLOGIST and proceed further.
Wish you good health.
