What Does My CT Scan Test Result Indicate?
yes you are correct
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question.
You are exactly correct. Involutional changes are associated with aging. This process starts in our 40s and progresses as we age through the decades. It does not mean that there is anything wrong with your brain necessarily. Only if the involutional changes were extreme would that be a reflection of an abnormality. Involutional change is a sort of condensing of the brain tissue as we age and it shows up as a widening of the fluid spaces in the brain on imaging tests like CT and MRI. All or almost all adults in their 80s would have some involutional changes in the brain if they had a CT done.
I assume that there was some reason they did the CT but if they did not find anything but the involutional changes it does not sound like there is anything to be concerned about.
Please let me know if you have further questions.
