Question: hello, I am a 39 year old female that is 4 weeks postpartum via C-section. I recently developed high blood pressure. My blood pressure was fine throughout my pregnancy. The doctors have ruled out preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome. It was suggested that I have an EKG and an Echo done to rule everything out. The EKG was normal. Can you please tell me if the Echo is normal or indicates anything serious?

FINDINGS
STUDY QUALITY:
The study quality is good. 2D/M-mode/Color/Doppler images reviewed.

LEFT VENTRICLE:
There is normal left ventricular systolic function. The estimated
ejection fraction is 60-65%.

LEFT ATRIUM:
The left atrium is normal in size with no visual thrombus identified.

RIGHT VENTRICLE:
The right ventricular chamber size and systolic function are within
normal limits.

RIGHT ATRIUM:
The right atrium appears normal.

AORTIC VALVE:
The aortic valve is trileaflet. Mild aortic cusp sclerosis is present.
There is no evidence of aortic stenosis. There is no evidence of aortic
regurgitation.

MITRAL VALVE:
The mitral valve leaflets are mildly thickened. There is a trace of
mitral regurgitation.

TRICUSPID VALVE:
The tricuspid valve leaflets are normal. There is a trace tricuspid
regurgitation. The right ventricular systolic pressure is calculated at
31 mmHg.

PULMONIC VALVE:
The pulmonic valve is not well visualized. There is no evidence of
pulmonic regurgitation.

PERICARDIUM:
The pericardium appears normal.

AORTA:
The aorta appears normal.

PULMONARY ARTERY:
The main pulmonary artery appears normal.

VENOUS:
The inferior vena cava appears normal in size.

CONCLUSIONS:
2D/M-mode/Color/Doppler images reviewed.
There is normal left ventricular systolic function.
The estimated ejection fraction is 60-65%.
There is a trace of mitral and tricuspid regurgitation.
The right ventricular systolic pressure is calculated at 31 mmHg

Brief Answer:
The cardiac-echography is totally normal!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this increased blood pressure that you have reported. My immediate thoughts are that there is probably something like stress, too much work, etc that is responsible for this increased blood pressure. I will not term it hypertension at this time but would recommend that it should be monitored closely before rushing to treatment.

I have reviewed your heart echography(ultrasound) results and they are totally normal. BE calm, rest enough, relax, eat healthy, sleep well and exercise often. These would be very helpful to boost your over all health.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
