What Does My MRI Report Suggest?
Question: I have just had an MRI done and have the MRI without report. I had pervoiusly had an Xray done when my working out left me sore and made me feel as though my low back were protruding outward. The xray showed a little something that was not conclusive so now the MRI. I await my treating doctor's input, but wonder if I could get some insight. I would like to attach the MRI.

Hello XXXX
According to report, you are suffering from mild degenerative disc disease of lumbar spine.
Degenerative changes occurs in spine due to aging and development of weakness in annulus fibrosis.
1.At L4-5 level, there is loss of water from inter vertebral disc and mild disc bulge which is indenting the thecal sac. There is also schmorl's node at this level. It is due to herniation of part of disc into L4 vertebra.
2.There is also hypertrophy of ligamentum hypertrophy.
There is no compression on neural canals and you have mild findings.
Majority of the cases of degenerative spine disease are benefited by physiotherapy,so physiotherapy should be tried first.
Surgery should be the last option.
There are also medicines like capsule pregabalin available for pain relief.
Treatment can be planned after consultation with neurologist.
Get well soon.
Hope I have answered your query.

Did you see the whole mri package ? There were like a hundred images? I understand all the degen changes kind of stuff and recognize that i am an old man;) i just noticed about five weeks ago that my tailbone/lower spine seemed to be protruding outwards as i would notice it runninng against my chair. Thats why my doc thought maybe my working out had changed the lordotic curve. Otherwise, i am thrilled with your analysis. I know a man of my age is likely to have degen changes in spine. Did u see any evidence of serious concern or tumor or anything ?

Limited number of images had been sent to me probably due to space problem in uploading, however it is sufficient for diagnosis.
Your findings are not serious. There is no tumour.
Your findings are due to aging and these are expected for your age.

I asked primarily because of the attached xray that showed something unknown above tailbone. I am also surprised you did not get all of the MRI images. I tried very hard to get them all to you. I take it that you feel that you had enough for diagnosis purposes. If you want more images, I can try and get them to you.
Thanks so much
