Brief Answer:
Actually it is the main reason for your pain and your prp shots are the most effective with such cases , the extent of your tear will be determined by your orthopedic if in very rare cases requires tendon repair .

Hi i am Dr Ahmed Aly
thanks for using HealthcareMagic site ,
I had gone through your question and understand your concerns ..

Yes it actually is the main reason for your pain in your elbow region and it extend his elbow and rotate the forearm. This action is used to carry something, as a food server would carry a tray. Because of its location and function, it is categorized as an extension of the triceps muscle. The anconeus muscle is not considered to be a critical piece of the arm's musculature. However, its absence would make it more difficult to extend the arm. It also functions to prevent the ulna and humerus from pinching the elbow joint capsule when the arm is flexed and released. An injury or strain to the anconeus muscle may result in tennis elbow. This is a painful condition that makes it difficult to bend the elbow or carry any weight with a bent elbow.

Thank you for the great response. I have seen 2 dr that believe I have tennis elbow, would prp shots help facilitate healing. Would a torn anconious muscle lead to constant elbow cracking.

Brief Answer:
I do not think it will help in healing it will help in inflammation and pain only .

Detailed Answer:
I do not think it will help in healing it will help in inflammation and pain , healing will occur by time and physiotherapy and that only if tear is minor . but i want you to know that in some cases we use this muscle as a source for graft to use in repairing other important tendons . so it is not a main muscle it is only an accessory muscle that help in functions of other muscles during elbow movements and no main function for it alone .
I think by proper management and careful physiotherapy with a chiropractor it will heal and your cracking sounds will decrease by time and hot massages with topical gels of anti inflammatory will help . your physical exercises will make surrounding tissues stronger and a bit larger that covering the effect of your torn muscle and also help in its healing .

Hi, thanks for another insightful answer, I have rested the injury for 3 months. The injury hasn't gotten any better. My forearm n wrist have felt tight and sore for 3 months. Is it possible this is all related to the anconioeous muscle tear? Thank you for all your help.

Hi, thank you for yet another thorough reply. I have been feeling weakness in my hand after the injury. I got an EMG and conduction nerve test which both came back negative for carpal tunnel and other nerve entrapment. I was curious if an MRI of the wrist can detect nerve issues. What else might be causing the weakness in my hand. Thank you for all your insight.

Brief Answer:
follow-up consultation

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back,

Usually, if your EMG and nerve conduction test came negative for carpal tunnel and nerve entrapment, no further investigations will be needed for nerve injuries .

MRI scans can detect nerve issues but that will not be needed as your previous EMG and conduction test are the best diagnostic tools for nervous issues .

I believe, it is your Anconeus muscle tear, the main cause of your pain. Rarely the spinal nerve root compression may cause cervical radiating pain and that could be diagnosed by MRI of cervical vertebra. In such cases, a neurological point of view may be needed for proper evaluation .

Hope this helps
Regards
